A traditional wooden barge with flat open construction.
The deck is raised 6 inches off the ground. The bow is raked giving it a realistic feature. Forward there are two wooden hawser bits secured to the deck; they can be used as seating. The structure is decked with IPE, a brazilian walnut that is known for it’s beauty, durability and longevity. It makes an impressive deck. Overall length is 9 feet. Width is 6 feet. The barge comes fully assembled. Building details: The barge is handcrafted using 1 X 6 inch IPE. The construction of the barge is exceptional. We use stainless steel screws, and fasten the deck from the underside, leaving a smooth finish on deck. Standard features: The barge has two wooden hawser bits on the bow. They are securely fastened to the deck. They make good seating. The stern has a solid wooden deck box with removable lid. The deck box can be used to stow seafaring tools or toys. The design allows for free drainage of water and good ventilation.
Finish stains: The barge is oiled to allow for the natural beauty of the IPE to show through. All finishes are safe for children’s play. Base structure/ setup details: The base is crafted of moisture resistant material and designed to set on a flat surface. The vessel is fastened to the ground with 4 to 6 simple ground anchors. The ground and play area surrounding the vessel should be prepared with loose mulch or otherwise appropriate ground cover. We are available to discuss options if needed. This base design allows for easy movement of the vessel to another place, if so desired.
